Katie Waddell joins LCWFC
Leicester City Women are delighted to announce the signing of Katie Waddell who joins the club after a spell with Saint Leo University in America.
The striker adds an extra dimension to Leicester’s attacking options and manager Jonathan Morgan is delighted to have captured the former Nottingham Forest Ladies player despite heavy interest from other Northern Premier Division teams.
“We’ve known of Katie for some while, we’ve had chats with her in the past but she wanted to finish her education in America and that’s been a great experience for her.”
“Once we knew she was available and back in England, we moved quickly as there was several clubs who were after her signature. Signing Katie shows our ambition to push onto the higher leagues by attracting players of this quality. It shows we’re still fighting for the league this season and planning for the future as well.”
After Katie took part in her first LCWFC training session last night, she commented; “Signing for Leicester is a great opportunity, it’s a great team and I’m looking forward to getting back into football in England. Playing in America is so different to England; the English game is more skilful.
“I hope I can bring my skill and enthusiasm to the team and to assist and score goals, to help the team win games. I’m really excited to sign for the team and I hope I can make a good impact to help the future of the club.”
Katie joins Leicester after 3 seasons playing with Saint Leo University where she notched 21 goals in 51 games alongside 22 assists. “Katie will bring a wealth of experience and her stats over in America speak for themselves, and I for one am delighted to be able to add her to our team.” Added Manager Jonathan Morgan.
